Version 1
Overview
The purpose of this policy is to outline the opportunities and procedures for TEG employees to engage in community volunteering activities. By allowing employees time off to volunteer, TEG extends its investment in local communities, delivering positive impacts for community partners.
Scope
This policy and associated procedures apply to all permanent employees at TEG offices based in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the UK, USA and Europe.
About Volunteering at TEG
Volunteer activities should benefit the community or a social cause and contribute to community wellbeing. Increasingly, research indicates that volunteerism also benefits the individual by promoting positive health and wellbeing, driving a sense of purpose and meaning and providing opportunities to develop and share professional skills.
TEG recognises the mutual benefit of volunteerism, and supports full time team members to engage in volunteer activities which align with business values and needs.
Volunteer Leave Entitlement
Full time team members are entitled to one (1) paid day volunteer leave per annum.
Volunteer leave does not accrue from year to year, and will reset to one (1) day on 1st January each year regardless of whether volunteer leave was taken the year prior.
Volunteer leave must align with TEG’s brand and corporate values.
Employees must apply for leave in the same way they usually apply for leave via the payroll system.
Approved Activities
Volunteering opportunities may occur onsite at TEG offices or at an offsite location and could include:
- Volunteering at an event hosted by a charity.
- Participating in public fundraising activities where volunteers interact with the general public to seek donations or fundraising support.
- Participating in a program run by the charity, whereby volunteers support the charity to deliver services to their community.
